Hangover Beauty Tips

We’ve all been there. That one glass of Pinot Grigio (or Shiraz or vodka or gin or jagerbombs…) turns in to 10. Fast forward to the next AM and you wake up feeling (and looking!) a little rough. You’ve slept in and your head is pounding “ but the show must go on and you have to get your tired, hungover butt in the shower and off to work. So how do you fake a fresh face for your workday? Here’s a few hangover beauty tips:

Clean up your act:
First and foremost despite the spins or massive headache you may be feeling get in the shower and be sure you wash your face. Applying make up over last night’s canvas is a rookie mistake when trying to hide a good time the night before. The smell, the smudged mascara under your lower lash line, and the stamp on your hand that gained you access to the party “ these are all things that need to go. Get scrubbing.

Prepare for Eye Contact:
Once clean, use some Visine or another product that reduces redness in the eyes. It doesn’t matter how much make-up you put around the eye to wake it up “ if your eyes are blood shot you are going to look tired and ahem, still drunk. Once the eyes are back to a normal shade of white, apply a little under eye concealer “ it will hide any lingering dark circles and instantly brighten up your face. Mascara should be your finishing touch.

Colour within the lines:
Now is not the time to get carried away with colour “ keep it clean and natural looking. Use a rosy shade of blush and a natural looking lipstick or gloss. Today, the goal is to look healthy in a pinch “ not the time to get experimental.

Tie the mane back:
Assuming you are really pressed for time and the idea of blowing your hair dry is leaving you one step from hanging your head over the toilet “ do a quick dry and tie it back. It doesn’t matter how fresh your face looks if you look like you’re rocking yesterday’s hair accompanied by this morning’s bed head “the results are not so hot. Wash it, and throw on a cute headband (love lazy fashion accessories), or go with an easy low bun or side braid “ this way you at least looked like you’ve tried if all else fails.

I’ve definitely run into this problem before. Actually, I can’t seem to avoid the skin problems I have – acne, bags under my eyes, I think I’m even starting to get some wrinkles. I know it’s all part of the aging process, but I’m sure going out and drinking hasn’t helped at all.
