Then if you are looking for a diamond engagement ring, you need to get the absolute best so have a look at these big and stunning diamond engagement rings as they will be sure to blow her mind. Here are the 6 most popular shapes in engagement rings and what each diamond says about you:

Round

This classic cut is for the traditional gal. A popular choice for solitaire ring lovers, it makes a radiant statement all by itself. The most popular of the diamond shapes and the most expensive, this ring is for the woman who knows what she wants. Celeb Note: Christina Aquilera’s vintage 5 carat round diamond is framed by a metal ring for a vintage touch.

Oval
Sophisticated and smart, an oval diamond gives off more sparkle than a round one and elongates fingers for a graceful look. Stunning on its own or with the help of some sapphires, an oval diamond is for the independent girl who also has time for her friends. Celeb Note: Tom popped the question to Katie with a 5 carat oval diamond on top the Eiffel Tower-ooh la la!

Pear
Also known as a tear drop, this unique looking shape is ideal for creative types. Though brilliant on its own, the pear cut can also be worked into a piece of art using other rare gems because of its interesting shape. Celeb Note: Actress Katherine Heigl shows of her artistic side with a 3 carat pear shape diamond ring.

Emerald
The ultimate is elegance and refinement. An emerald cut diamond is rectangular in shape and can exude a bolder confidence than other diamonds. What about heart shaped ones? Or rings with something other than diamonds?

If you’ve dreamed of finding love, you’ve probably dreamed living together, and if you’ve dreamed of living together for at least 4 years, you’ve dreamed if a common law marriage whether you like it or not. Which I think we all have at some point in our lives, or at least the readership of this site would, considering the past relationship articles.
Nice to see some interesting conversation over a fashion article. Good work, ladies!
I actually read it for the celeb notes 🙂 It makes me feel like a movie star hearing about Elizabeth Taylor’s multiple rings. I have 3 myself!

Funny how a happily unmarried woman likes to read articles on engagement rings…hmmm.
I don’t think one should read too deeply into this anyways, it’s a fun piece about jewelery. I have never dreamed about marriage either but I certainly dream about a rock on my finger!

I agree with you that we all dream–men and women alike–of finding lasting love. But I think it is disingenuous to deny that for the majority of people the expression of that lasting love is marriage.

Actually, we don’t “all” dream of getting married. Finding love maybe. I have no problem with the idea of marriage myself, just with the idea that it’s a universal goal.
