Spring Makeup Tips

Perfect Skin

The trend this season is all about perfect skin, without a ton of makeup. It’s the sun damage, hyperpigmentation and redness that you want to get rid of and let your true beauty shine through. Look for skincare products that target these pre-mature signs of aging.

Loose Waves

Waves are not just for the beach, so if you have naturally wavy hair, wash your hair at night and let it air-dry. In the morning, rub a light serum on your palms and gently pat down any flyaways. If you’re without natural waves, after you’ve let it air-dry, use a large-barrel curling iron on three-inch sections of hair, and apply a texturizing spray to add volume as you curl.

Pretty in Purple

Purple was all over the runways, but for those of us not walking the catwalk, less is more. We love it on the eye, so do one very sheer layer on your lid or use purple eyeshadow as a liner.

The Loose Bun

The just took a nap, relaxed, pretty look, is the same overall concept as rumpled waves, but in an updo. Gather hair into a loose ponytail, then twist and wrap into a low, messy bun. Secure it with a few bobby pins and voila.

Spring Shimmer

Cream or powder shimmer gives your complexion beautiful radiance. Limit shimmer to cheekbones, brow bones and eyelids and avoid the T-zone. Women with pale skin tones can try silvery shimmer, but those with dark complexions should stick to pink or gold for a sun-kissed shine.

Bright Lips

Since a bright lip can be strong, keep the rest of your makeup relatively understated. Make sure your skin looks as picture perfect as possible (see perfect skin), since bright colours can zero in on imperfections.
