Vampire-Inspired Beauty

The reign of Twilight, Vampire Diaries, True Blood and everything vampire-related is infiltrating the beauty and fashion world; making black nails, thick eyeliner and red-stained lips an every day basic. Here’s how to rock this latest vampire-inspired trend without looking like you missed Halloween.

Lips
There’s no fun in playing the damsel in distress with a neutral lip, this season it’s all about being dangerous and taking on the role of the vampire with red-stained lips. But before you can walk on the wild side with your red lips it is essential that you prepare them. Exfoliate your lips by scrubbing with a toothbrush in a circular motion and then moisturize to avoid amplifying dry lips’ imperfections. Then choose from the wide range of reds according to your skin tone, whether it is a matte red or a berry stain, and stick with simple makeup for the rest of your face.

Nails
With the return of the vampire came the return of the black nail. The trick is to keep your nails short and rounded when wearing black nail polish. As well, use a base coat and top coat to keep your polish from chipping as long as possible. Once your black nail polish chips, so does your vampire-esque mystery.

Eyes
Kristen Stewart may have been fresh-faced in Twilight but on the red carpet she was showing her vampire pride by wearing dark eyeliner, the latest beauty trend. The key for this look is to layer on the liquid liner, perhaps more than you normally would, but to keep the rest of the face fresh. Pair your dark eyes with a few strokes of mascara, a clean complexion and nude lips and you will have created a glamorous but dangerous and smoldering look.

Complexion
While we may not have been born with the vampires’ superpowers or their perfect, porcelain complexions, we can replicate it. The most important thing is to wear a moisturizer with SPF every day to avoid wrinkles and sunspots, as well as to hydrate your skin. To achieve the matte finish, dampen your makeup sponge and blot foundation onto your entire face. Finish your porcelain look with a light, translucent blush, a sweep of mascara and a light lip.
